A Goa Field Guide · Vol. 08
Planning a destination wedding in Goa — venues, real 2026 costs, North vs South, what you actually need, and why a local team usually saves you 20–35%. No fluff.

Chapter 01 — The premise
That single geographic accident is why you can do a haldi in an Assagao villa on Friday, a cocktail on a Vagator cliff at sunset, and the pheras on a South Goa beach on Sunday morning — without asking your guests to change cities or take a second flight.
This guide is the map we wish we’d had when we started shooting Goa weddings twelve years ago. Venues, budgets, vendors, permits, timelines, and the honest tradeoffs nobody puts on their brochure.

Chapter 02 — The moving parts
Eight moving parts, in the rough order most couples confront them. Skip any of these and the day looks it — nail all of them and your guests will remember it forever.
30–65% of budget
Your single biggest line item — commonly 30–65% of the wedding budget. Options range from a 25-guest villa to a full 200-room beach resort buyout.
₹2k–₹5.5k / plate
Mid-to-upscale plate cost usually lands between ₹2,000–₹5,500. Multi-cuisine buffets, live counters, and bar packages are all separate line items.
₹3L–₹8L
Full-wedding packages (2–3 days, photo + film + drone + reels) commonly land between ₹3–8 lakh — depending on team size, days, and deliverables.
₹3L–₹40L+
From ₹3 lakh for a clean minimal setup to ₹40 lakh+ for editorial floral installations and multi-space theming. This is where scale shows.
₹5L–₹15L+
Live bands, DJs, sundowner sets, and celebrity acts usually add ₹5–15 lakh, going higher for headline artists. Sound + lights are often bundled.
₹4L–₹10L
Airport transfers, welcome kits, in-hotel coordinators, RSVP tracking. Usually ₹4–10 lakh depending on guest count and how hands-off you want to be.
₹5L–₹12L
Full-service planners typically charge ₹5–12 lakh (or a % of total spend). A local guided model — like ours — can cut this dramatically without cutting quality.
Handled in-package
Sound, alcohol, drone, beach and firework permits — resorts handle most in-house. Beach ceremonies and off-property shoots may need coastal / municipal clearances.
Chapter 03 — Pick your coast
Both give you sea, sun and coconut palms. The real difference is the vibe of the guest experience and the shape of the venues you can pick from.

Trendy · lively · modern

Calm · scenic · relaxed
You don’t have to pick just one. Roughly half of our couples end up splitting events across both coasts — mehendi + cocktail in North Goa, main ceremony + reception in South Goa. We drive the entire team between them.

Chapter 05 — The numbers
Numbers below are aggregate ranges from actual 2025–26 Goa weddings — mid-tier resorts, standard décor, average 2-day format. Add luxury venues or celebrity acts and the top end climbs quickly.
| Guest count | Style | Total | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25–50 guests | Intimate villa or boutique | ₹8L – ₹15L | Sunset-ceremony format, 1 day + reception dinner. |
| 50–100 guests | Boutique resort | ₹20L – ₹60L | Comfortable starting bracket for a 2-day Goa wedding. |
| 100–150 guests | Mid-range 4-star / 5-star | ₹30L – ₹1 Cr | The most common “full destination wedding” bracket. |
| 150–250 guests | Premium beachfront resort | ₹1 Cr – ₹2.5 Cr | Bigger events, richer décor, longer format. |
| 250+ guests | Full-property luxury buyout | ₹2.5 Cr + | Complete resort takeover, celebrity acts on the roster. |

Chapter 06 — The unfair advantage
We’re not against your Mumbai or Delhi photographer coming down — many of them are our friends. But if you’re booking fresh, the math and the logistics almost always favour a local team.
20–35%
No return flights, no twin-share rooms, no travel days — a local team of the same size can be 20–35% cheaper than flying an equivalent crew in from Mumbai or Delhi.
Both
We drive between locations without inter-city flights. Haldi in Assagao, cocktail at W Goa, phera at Taj Exotica — same team, same lenses, same day.
2000+
Twelve years of shooting Goa means we already know every property’s light, every rain-backup, every hidden portrait corner. No location recce charges.
0
Wedding morning fog in Delhi doesn’t affect us. We land at the venue the night before regardless — and if a second team is needed, it’s a 40-minute drive, not a 3-hour flight.
Chapter 07 — Three ways to work
Not every couple wants (or needs) a full-service planner. Pick the model that matches how hands-on you actually want to be.

Chapter 08 — The runway
Peak-season dates lock 9–12 months out. Off-peak or shoulder weeks are usually possible with 4–6 months of runway.
12–9 mo
Guest count, budget bracket, region (N vs S), and date window.
9–6 mo
Venue, photographer/film, planner (if any). These are the hardest to swap later.
6–4 mo
Décor, catering, entertainment, wardrobe. Trials and menu tastings begin.
4–2 mo
Save-the-dates, transfers, welcome kits, RSVP tracking, itinerary drafts.
2–0 mo
Final walk-through, permits, shot-list lock, and the last two weeks reserved for you, not vendors.
Chapter 09 — Answered
For a comfortable 100–150 guest, 2-day wedding at a mid-range resort, most couples land between ₹30 lakh and ₹1 crore all-in. Intimate villa weddings (25–50 guests) can be done from around ₹8–15 lakh, while premium 5-star buyouts easily cross ₹1.5–2.5 crore. The single biggest variables are guest count, resort tier and décor scale.
South Goa is calmer, greener, and dominated by large 5-star beachfront resorts like Taj Exotica, The Leela and Park Hyatt — better for family-friendly, private celebrations. North Goa is trendier and busier, with cliffside and villa venues like W Goa, Grand Hyatt and Vagator/Assagao Portuguese villas — better for younger, high-energy weddings and easier for guest movement. We shoot both, most weeks.
October to March is the wedding season — cool breeze, clear skies, no rain. November to February is peak (and priciest). April and early October are shoulder months and can work if you time the ceremony for late afternoon. We avoid pure monsoon dates (June–September) for outdoor setups, though moody villa weddings then are very beautiful.
The resort itself handles most in-house permits (music licence, alcohol, fireworks where allowed). For beach ceremonies, drone shoots, or amplified music on public land, additional permissions may be needed — most planners and larger resorts handle these end-to-end. If you want a legal registration in Goa, it needs at least 30 days’ residence and is usually paperwork-heavy — most couples register in their home city and celebrate in Goa.
Three reasons: cost, knowledge and reliability. Local teams don’t need flights, twin-share rooms or return travel days, which alone saves 20–35% versus flying in an equivalent team. We already know every venue’s light, every backup spot when it rains, and every logistics quirk. And on the day, we can reach any north-or-south Goa location without depending on Mumbai traffic or delayed flights.
Both. We offer three ways to work with us: full wedding management (venue, décor, catering, entertainment, guest logistics — end-to-end), a guided planner model (we help you make choices, but you book directly and save the planning fee), or pure photography + cinematography teams if you already have a planner. We only accept a limited number of full-management weddings each season.
For peak season dates (Nov–Feb) at premium resorts, book venue + core vendors 9–12 months out. Off-peak or shoulder dates are usually possible with 4–6 months of runway. Photography teams for saved dates lock 6–12 months ahead in season.
Yes. It’s common for our couples to do a haldi/mehendi at a North Goa villa and the main ceremony at a South Goa resort — we drive between locations with the full team without inter-city flights or delays.
Chapter 10 — The next step
Tell us your dates, guest count and rough budget — we’ll come back with a shortlist of venues, a candid cost estimate, and a plan that fits how hands-on you want to be.
